In 1966 Aquacoolers was born, a company dedicated to providing the very best hydration solutions. A South African company to its roots, Aquacoolers developed the water cooler industry in South Africa, and an Aquacooler became the generic name for a water cooler. The story of Cash Converters Southern Africa started in 1994, when Richard Mukheibir (current CEO) and his business partner, Peter Forshaw (current CFO), were among the first people to bring international franchising to the country.
The duo introduced South Africans to several franchises, one of which was Cash Converters – an Australian franchise that focused exclusively on the buying and selling of quality pre-owned goods.
Cash Converters continues to hold the master franchise licence in sub-Saharan Africa; we have stores in both South Africa and Namibia, with plans to expand across the African continent.

Company Background
The Fruitspot started in 1989 when the Ferreira Brothers identified a need for value for money fruit and vegetables with exceptional service to the Retail, Food Service and Hospitality segments of Industry. From humble beginnings in Midrand, the business has outgrown itself every 3 – 4 years.The move to a magnificent new building in Marlboro in July 2008 bears testimony to the success achieved over this period and further growth is anticipated going forward.
Company Structure
The Fruitspot, was bought by MAKRO, South Africa (part of MASSMART) in January 2012 but has maintained the same values that made the business the success it is.
Distribution
The Fruitspot has a fleet of more than 120 vehicles ranging from 1/2 tonners to 30 tonne rigs. All vehicles are refrigerated and travel in excess
of 15000 kms per day covering Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and Gauteng.
The smaller vehicles cover the local or nearby areas and are ideal for emergency orders, a common requirement in the markets we serve.
The fleet is serviced on site where we have a full complement of trained technical staff. Also included is a wash bay which ensures that our vehicles meet the strict hygiene standards set by our clients.
Over and above fresh and processed fruits and vegetables we offer eggs, dried fruit and nuts, frozen potato chips and a selected range of frozen vegetables.
Compliancy
The facility attained FSSC 22000 certification in December 2015. We are fully compliant with the Consumer Protection Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act. In order to maintain the required food safety standards, monthly inspections are carried out by Food Consulting Services (FCS) and internal audits are carried out on a planned basis.
Our plant is also Halaal certified under the auspices of S.A.N.H.A
