It all started with a love for cooking and baking. Inspired by childhood memories interweaved with the aromatic smell of their grandmothers’ baking with treats such as the most amazing Custard Cookies and Soetkoekies. You can almost taste it just at the thought of it. Having 8 grandchildren to entertain our grandmother had to think out of the box to keep us all busy and that’s how baking became child’s play and crept its way into our little hearts.”
The tradition still carries on with the new generation of Lahoud grand kids. The highlight of the year is the creation of gingerbread houses and decorating it with all sorts of sweets before Christmas.
When the family decided to start CAB Foods they knew it wouldn’t be easy, but they had the support of each other together. They added buckets of faith, an ounce of courage, a gallon of creativity, a few heaped spoons of hard work, a dollop of determination and some more hard work, the secret ingredient in the centre, topping it all off with a generous sprinkle of love for good measure.

A new range of helium balloons has been launched at our Brackenfell, Somerset West, Bellville, Kenilworth and Worcester stores.
We also offer bulk cooking and baking ingredients at wholesale prices to the hospitality industry and other bulk customers.

Catercorp is a privately owned, proudly South African business, who has been manufacturing products for the past 39 years. We specialise in Sauces, Marinades, Condiments, Spices, Packaging and Kitchen Peripherals. Our product range of over 500 items is manufactured and warehoused in our 10,000 square meter facility, situated in the heart of Wynberg, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Company Background
The Fruitspot started in 1989 when the Ferreira Brothers identified a need for value for money fruit and vegetables with exceptional service to the Retail, Food Service and Hospitality segments of Industry. From humble beginnings in Midrand, the business has outgrown itself every 3 – 4 years.The move to a magnificent new building in Marlboro in July 2008 bears testimony to the success achieved over this period and further growth is anticipated going forward.
Company Structure
The Fruitspot, was bought by MAKRO, South Africa (part of MASSMART) in January 2012 but has maintained the same values that made the business the success it is.
Distribution
The Fruitspot has a fleet of more than 120 vehicles ranging from 1/2 tonners to 30 tonne rigs. All vehicles are refrigerated and travel in excess
of 15000 kms per day covering Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and Gauteng.
The smaller vehicles cover the local or nearby areas and are ideal for emergency orders, a common requirement in the markets we serve.
The fleet is serviced on site where we have a full complement of trained technical staff. Also included is a wash bay which ensures that our vehicles meet the strict hygiene standards set by our clients.
Over and above fresh and processed fruits and vegetables we offer eggs, dried fruit and nuts, frozen potato chips and a selected range of frozen vegetables.
Compliancy
The facility attained FSSC 22000 certification in December 2015. We are fully compliant with the Consumer Protection Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act. In order to maintain the required food safety standards, monthly inspections are carried out by Food Consulting Services (FCS) and internal audits are carried out on a planned basis.
Our plant is also Halaal certified under the auspices of S.A.N.H.A
